Marvine Trail |

This is the new Marvine Trail off of Parker Street in North Scranton. It goes though land that was the former Marvine Colliery. Near the parking lot is a stone bridge abutment that is most likely from the O&W. A news clip said this trail was different as it went through old coal lands as opposed to following a Railroad Right of way. The Reycling Center is near the trail. The trail passes parts of two bridges that cross the Lackawanna River. The covered one was actually a conveyor line. The other one, more like a truss bridge, carried the coal cars across the river. Both the conveyor and the mine cars connected the Head House to the Marvine Breaker. Of course I ran in to Chris Murley of the Underground Miners and he explained this all to me.
