+ Larger Font | + Smaller Font December 04, 2007 This fenced in parking lot is the site of the Fell House, in Wilkes-Barre. A Hotel on this site was the first place that stone coal was burned in PA. Judge Jesse Fell used a grate to get the correct draft to keep the coal burning. I recall seeing the building at one time. I think like in the mid 80s it was demolished. They should have done something to save history. The lot was vacant for years and I used to cut across it when I was in high school. There is a historical marker at this site.
