Dundee Tunnel, Stone Portal |
+ Larger Font | + Smaller Font December 28, 2009
The portal of the Dundee Tunnel closest to Loomis Park is made of stone. The portal closest to the San Souci Parkway is made of concrete. Of course the concrete loving Delaware, Lackawanna and Western ran over the top of this embankment. This was the Hanover and Newport Twp branch. Down the road is a short concrete trestle.
The DL and W Hanover and Newport Twp branch ran over this embankment and went toward Askam and the Hanover Section of Nanticoke to server the Truesdale and Achincloss breakers. |
