Sightings 02.01.10 / Tank Cars, Wilkes-Barre, Market Street Square |

stg020110 Live from the field via my Dell Axim X51: South Wilkes-Barre - No more tank cars on the tracks along the lower part of Wilkes-Barre Blvd. In the area of the rear of the former Shapiro Scrapyard and Planters Peanuts the much maligned cars have been removed. Market Street Square - The only thing really left is that piece of ex Amtrak passenger equipment. #3332, a baggage car or something like that. The old CNJ station continues to deteriorate. The idea of a county Welcome Center / Polka museum seems to be dead as Luzerne County struggles with a Corruption Scandal, 2010 Budget that calls for the closing of Moon Lake Park, layoffs of County Workers, and a property tax hike on the heels of a painful tax reassessment.
