PNER HQ At Dusk

Looking through some old photos.  Found this shot of the old Pocono Northeast Railroad Headquarters on RT. 92 in Exeter.

They said #77 was in running condition.  Personally never saw it run.  These locomotives worked these old branch lines in the Wyoming and Lackawanna Valley area.  Much of what they got to operate was the CONRAIL Wilkes-Barre Cluster.

I recall listening in on the Scanner to the PNER Frequency and they would have 3 or 4 locomotives out switching cars.   One day one unit was going to switch Wilkes-Barre.  Another was on the other side of the River on the former Bloomsburg line.   One unit was taking cars to SLC Graphics in Hughestown on the Avoca Industrial Track.   Another unit was in Coxton yard doing something.

The door seems to be open on 601 and it does not look like it was operating at this time.

The PNER was a neat operation to watch.

The furthest the tracks went on this side of the river was the old Celotex Plant in Harding. Have not been up that way since the trestle across the Susquehhanna had been demolished.
