New Street Crossing, Out Of Service

The Reading and Northern has taken the New Street Duryea Crossing out of service. They were concerned that a tractor-trailer could get hung up there.

It was a bad crossing, very steep. When you went over it in a car you could not see the bottom of the hill.

Used to sit by the Pot Belly bar and watch the trains go by.

Tidbit :

In the DL&W Scranton Station, 
now the Radisson,there are about
20 ceramic tile work mosaics around 
the main concourse of the building. 
The tile work pictures were supposed to
represent locations on the railroad.
