September 7, 2006 Looking at those pictures of the Dorrance Fan House jogged my memory. I remember one night we were roaming around the North End of Wilkes-Barre. It was cold and starting to snow. We ran into this one girl we knew. She had a couple quarts of Genney Crean Ale. We went into the shaft house to get out of the snow. The one guy said "Don't fall in that hole, that is the air shaft". Go head, throw a rock in there. I tossed a rock in and it was like 20 seconds before I heard a splash. "Water in there ???", I asked. They said after Knox all the mines flooded. We hung out there for a while, and the snow kept falling thru a hole in the roof. We took turns tossing rocks and bottles and cans into the shaft.
