East End "Jean King" Water Tower

Here is a fixture in the skyline of the East End of Wilkes-Barre.

Remember in the 80s if you were cool you went to the Jean King for acid wash jeans, sold by the late Elliot Katuna ?   Well the faded name on this water tower has outlasted the store.   I always liked the Jean King - they always had something on sale.

This water tower was for what at was at one time as shoe factory located by the Delaware and Hudson and Lehigh Valley tracks.  Now the building has several retail and light industrial tenants.

Before the Yellow Tank with the Jean King painted on it it was red with a CBS WDAU TV logo on it.  For years it looked like a big eye looking down on you.
