October 25, 2013

Lackawanna River Heritage Trail CNJ in Scranton. This is a new section that just opened over the summer of 2013. It runs from South Scranton to Taylor and ends up right behind the Taylor Railroad yard.

First section of t he trail follows some powerlines.

Nicely maintained trail, paved and crushed stone.

Culm dumps.

Trail winds past the mined out area.

Some rocks

A carving into rocks.

Bridge crossing the Lackawanna, over to the former Murray Plant.

This looks to be an original retaining wall from the railroad. Many of the stones were stained green, most likely from copper.

Here is some stone work and landscaping down by the river.
