stg10-10 Live from the field via my Sharp Wizard 1 MB: It is a damp and rainy day. The leaves are starting to turn, and this weekend might be the peak of the fall foilage. It was supposed to clear up in the afternoon, but it looks like an all day rain. First stop, the Hobo Base in Avoca for a footlong hotdog. They aren't making hotdogs until monday (it is a seasonal item along with chili) so I get a Super Hobo and got down to the park along the CP tracks to eat it. The block signal is showing green, and nothing is heard on my scanner, so I move on after I eat. Pittston Junction - There were two R and N "pups", coupled cab to cab by the yard office. L and S #30 was parked in the normal spot. A string of covered hoppers was on the track closest to the road Taylor Yard - 8320 and another unit is laying over with some tank cars behind it. A P job for tommorow, perhaps. The scanner crackles to life. A D and H detectorgoes off. 555 northbound, 292 axles at CPF 676, Ithink it said. Thats is up near Clarks Summitm, if I remember correctly. They are putting in new ties on one of the tracks. It looks like it is one of the R and Ns tracks. An orange CP caboose i also in the yard. 5682 far,5423 df, 55551 far,5648 Stl and H sit by the office. I see an Agway truck juice them up. I take some shots and finish the Fuji Superia 400 that is in my camera. I load in some Fujicolor Superia Xtra 800. I never used it before, I wonder if it is good. Some ATV's go down the track and cut offto the road that goes to the river. A foamer type walks down the tracks to the middle of the yard. The signal on the main goes from red, red, red to yellow, red, red. A short time later, green, red, red. The scanner comes to life, it is the dispatcher telling the train to proceed. The crew mounts the cab, gives the idiots taking pictures a dumb look, tachs up the engines and heads north. The foamer types leave shortly after the engines pass. Steamtown - CP steamer 2317 and 514 in Nikel Plate paint are power on an excursion. 11 coaches today.
