Sightings: D&H, D-L mini Alcofest, 410 Saturday : Something came thru the WB in the morning. Was out on the mountain bike in Wilkes-Barre and Kingston for much on the afternoon. Nothing, nada, zilch. Did play around with the camcorder and got shots of the varoius trestles and bridges and a neat swampy pond near Kirby Park. Sunday : POURING RAIN, CLOUDY DARK AND DAMP. Duryea and Pittston Junction - ---------------------------------- Out around 10 o'clock and took a ride to Mr. Z's in Duryea to get some things hoping to see some trains. LEPI was not around. A switcher was at the Pittston Junction. Avoca - --------- Heard some scanner chat and pulled into the playground by the tracks. Something just went past Bridge 60. A 410 was at Hop. The Northbound train was gonna meet the 410 at Hop. Also some trains waiting to go Southbound at Binghamton. Waited under the canopy by the Little League building. POURING RAIN. My plan was that if there was a southbound, I could set up under the canopy and stay dry. Listened to the scanner, and nothing was comming, so I left. Taylor Yard - --------------- The D&H duo of #7312 and #7304 were there. A CP unit was also in the yard. POURING RAIN. Rolled the window down and shot some video and some pictures. Tried some 35mm shots too, but it was dark. Steamtown, Mini Alco-Fest - ---------------------------------- Lot of cars on Bridge 60. An NS 4-axle unit was on the bridge. (why was it there ???) NKP #514 was hauling a coach in Steamtown. Why did they paint that in NKP colors ????? What does the Nickel Plate have to do with Northeastern, PA ???? Went over to the mall because it was pouring. They did not have anthing I wanted at the mall. Went to the software store and all they had was games. Noticed a lot of D-L units parked outside the mall and ran back for my cameras. Various D-L locomotives were 310, 1044 (a new switcher in orange and black) , 6788 (Delta Bulk terminal) RS3 4018, The big white MLW was there too. The trolley went by them. The conductor walked over in the ran to throw a switch. Chasing a 410 - ---------------- Was at North Main Ave near Gerrity's. There was a train leaving Tayor southbound. A 410 it was. Got down to Taylor and I missed the head end. Punched information into nava-computer. Lot of old ladies driving around for Mother's day, driving real slow. Wanted to catch the train at Avoca. Got to Moosic and opted to catch the train on that one street the crossing has been removed. Parked near the concrete barriers. POURING RAIN. Rolled the window down and got some video of it passing by.
